Faculty Book Recommendation: “Becoming a Critically Reflective Teacher” by Stephen D. Brookfield

Being able to critically analyze our own assumptions is a crucial tool for educators.

Being able to critically analyze our own assumptions is a crucial tool for educators. Not only does it help us to teach our students better, but it also enables us to become more informed about ourselves and to challenge our own beliefs. This book, more than any other, has helped me shape the lenses through which I view the world and most importantly, the lenses through which I view my teaching. I recommend it to anyone who works in education or who wants to make social change. The chapters on hegemony and race are particularly powerful.
